Seek The Truth

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me," and "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 14:2; 3:16-17)

Comfort and Joy – where are they?

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Christmas
  • Comfort and Joy – where are they?
Joy to the world, the Lord is come….
(Joy to the World)
Tidings of comfort and joy….
(God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen)
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
Peace on earthAnd suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
~Luke 2:8-14 (NKJV)
At Christmastime, we sing all about “peace on earth” “comfort and joy” yet if we look around the world today, you can’t help but wonder, “Where’s the joy? Where’s the peace? What comfort?”
This may be one of the hardest things for humans to understand when millions of people are unemployed, suffering financial hardship, losing their homes, with crumbling marriages, battling depression, involved in conflicts and wars no body wants, mourning senseless deaths and in utter desperation. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. ~ 1 Peter 2:6-7
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Jesus Christ arrived and the Jews thought that He would save them from their Roman enemies right then and there. They did not understand that Jesus was speaking of the bigger picture. He wasn’t there for a temporary fix. God sent His Son to save all people from their sins – their sins that would be their death.
During Jesus’ trial, Pilate asked Him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” (John 18:33)
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.” (John 18:36)
His Kingdom is Heaven. Jesus said,
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am…” ~ John 14:1-3

Joy to the world, the Lord is come.
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heav’n and nature sing…
It’s hard to rejoice when we are going through tough times, but we need to trust God to get us through them. We need to keep reminding ourselves that this world is temporary and a better life is guaranteed for us in Christ Jesus.
Your room reservation in God’s house awaits. You just need to call Jesus. Once you do, you’ll feel the comfort and joy…
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:7
