Last Sunday when I get to my church’s food pantry to work, I find that we have 400 dozen eggs! Yeah, that’s not a typo — these didn’t make the Easter Bunny’s basket.
So I decided to bring a case home with me and give to all my neighbors. I had a carton of 18 extra so when my Avon lady, Sally, came by with my order, I gave her a carton of eggs.
Here’s what she wrote me….
Coincidence? I think not!
After I left your place with 18 eggs on Saturday, I decided to drop by the home of a woman who signed up recently to sell Avon, to see how she was doing. Here’s her story:
She and her husband have 6 children; the oldest is 14. She is American-born, but her husband is Mexican, and illegal. They have been working for 7 years to go through everything needed to make him legal. Two weeks ago, he rolled through a stop sign instead of coming to a complete halt. He got stopped by a police officer. Bottom line, they found out he’s illegal. So he’s been in jail waiting for them to sort everything out. They’ve provided all the documents showing that they were working on getting him legalized, but the wheels of justice grind slowly. She hasn’t been working outside the home to speak of, since she has the kids to tend to. She got a couple of cleaning jobs, and she’s waiting for financial assistance to carry her over until her husband is (hopefully) freed. So it was pretty obvious to me why you gave me those eggs; I passed them on to her.
Just a carton of eggs….
God Bless,
Giselle
