Seek The Truth

by Giselle Aguiar, Award-Winning, Christian Author

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me," and "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 14:2; 3:16-17)

The theater was packed! I was not disappointed. “God’s Not Dead” delivers a powerful message.

First, I’m so happy to see a Pure Flix movie on the big screen. Usually they go straight to DVD or on TBN. The fact that the previews for it were shown before “Son of God” was God’s perfect timing as I don’t think the producers of each planned their respective releases to coincide so ideally. Great coattails to ride on!

College – where young adults go to learn. But should they learn that God’s dead? “God’s Not Dead is based on the many cases of colleges who aim to steer students away from God and their Christian beliefs and funny, God always wins in the end.

The main plot is of a Christian college student, Josh Wheaton, played by Shane Harper, who is stuck taking a philosophy class taught by Professor Jeffrey Raddison, played by Kevin Sorbo (of “Hercules” fame), a confirmed atheist. Prof. Raddison tells the 80 some students in the class to write on a piece of paper, “God is dead”. Most of them do except for Josh who refuses because he’s a Christian and he believes in God. Prof. Raddison then challenges him to prove God’s existence.

There are several powerful sub-plots like that of Amy, who discovers she has cancer; Ayisha, the Middle Eastern girl who defies her strict father; Martin, the Chinese classmate of Josh’s who’s curiosity is peaked with Josh’s defense of God; and Mina, Raddison’s live-in, way-younger-than-him, girlfriend who states that they’re “unevenly yoked”.

God’s Timing is Perfect

Things happen for a reason. Everything thing from perfectly good cars not starting to wine being left in the car to overheat, trigger cause-and-effect scenarios that could only be by divine intervention.

The powerful ending is unexpected and I won’t give it away. All I say is this is a must see! I’m overjoyed that God’s taking over Hollywood!

Oh, the Newsboys concert made me want to jump up and start singing and dancing. Here’s an older video of them singing the title song – turn up your speakers:

Can’t wait for next’s month’s release – Heaven is for Real. The book was awesome and the movie will be also.

What is the Holy Trinity?

Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity: Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Father

If you grew up going to church, you’ll be able to answer the question, “What is the Holy Trinity?”

The Father, the son and the Holy Ghost or Spirit. Simple, right? Not so much. If you think about it, how can 3 entities be one God? It makes no sense. A Jewish friend of mine told me, “I can’t wrap my brain around the Trinity thing.”

Some people have explained it using the example of H2O. You have ice, water and steam. They all are H2O.

Others say that that’s not a good analogy. It’s not accurate. So when I find a good definition of the Holy Trinity. I want to share it. To help folks “wrap their brains around it.”

Christian preachers have been trying to explain a spiritual concept to humans since the Resurrection. Many people just believe. They take it in faith.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV

Charles Colson describes the Holy Trinity as: God Above (the Father), God Beside (Jesus), God Within (the Holy Spirit).

Jesus said,

Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. ~John 14:9

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16

Tweet Your way into Heaven? Catholic church says Yes!

Pope Francis Portrait Painting

If you have any doubt if you’re going to heaven, now you can follow the Pope on Twitter and he’ll help you get out of Purgatory faster. Yeah.

In its latest attempt to keep up with the times the Vatican has married one of its oldest traditions to the world of social media by offering “indulgences” to followers of Pope Francis’ tweets. ~The Guardian

This is WRONG!

First of all, Purgatory doesn’t exist. It’s not in the Bible. Purgatory was invented by the early church fathers to get the people of the Dark Ages to behave.

Second, the only way to get to heaven is by believing in Jesus Christ. No amount of money, nothing you can do as a human, can help you get into heaven.

“Indulgences” go back to the 1500s when the Catholic church was trying to raise money to build St. Peter’s Basilica. They sold the “indulgences” so that people can buy a ticket to heaven for themselves of a family member who already died. It’s what prompted Martin Luther to start the Protestant Reformation. (By then way, once you’re dead, there’s no turning back. You either are in heaven or hell – those are your choices.)

Here’s the TRUTH:

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24

Just being “good” or doing charitable works won’t get you into heaven.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

The key word in that statement is “the”. Jesus is THE WAY, not “a” way. Jesus is THE TRUTH, not “a” truth. And He is THE LIFE, not “a” life.

So if the Catholic church and the Vatican actually think they can help people get out of an imaginary place (Purgatory) and get into heaven, THEY ARE WRONG!

I’m a former Catholic. Now, as a committed, born-again, evangelical, Protestant Christian, I look back at my Catholic upbringing and I feel deprived. I could have been learning the Truth about Jesus not just the “Bible stories” that the Catholic church felt were important. They picked out the stories that suited their purpose and ignored the rest. I think this is a big reason why our world is so messed up.

Read the Bible. Read the Truth. Find a bible-based church that teaches from the bible.

So what sounds better, believing in Jesus Christ and assuring yourself a room in His Father’s House or going to hell? And He’s waiting for YOU there preparing a place for YOU. (John 14:2)
