Seek The Truth

by Giselle Aguiar, Award-Winning, Christian Author

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me," and "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 14:2; 3:16-17)

Tweet Your way into Heaven? Catholic church says Yes!

If you have any doubt if you’re going to heaven, now you can follow the Pope on Twitter and he’ll help you get out of Purgatory faster. Yeah.

In its latest attempt to keep up with the times the Vatican has married one of its oldest traditions to the world of social media by offering “indulgences” to followers of Pope Francis’ tweets. ~The Guardian

This is WRONG!

First of all, Purgatory doesn’t exist. It’s not in the Bible. Purgatory was invented by the early church fathers to get the people of the Dark Ages to behave.

Second, the only way to get to heaven is by believing in Jesus Christ. No amount of money, nothing you can do as a human, can help you get into heaven.

“Indulgences” go back to the 1500s when the Catholic church was trying to raise money to build St. Peter’s Basilica. They sold the “indulgences” so that people can buy a ticket to heaven for themselves of a family member who already died. It’s what prompted Martin Luther to start the Protestant Reformation. (By then way, once you’re dead, there’s no turning back. You either are in heaven or hell – those are your choices.)

Here’s the TRUTH:

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24

Just being “good” or doing charitable works won’t get you into heaven.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

The key word in that statement is “the”. Jesus is THE WAY, not “a” way. Jesus is THE TRUTH, not “a” truth. And He is THE LIFE, not “a” life.

So if the Catholic church and the Vatican actually think they can help people get out of an imaginary place (Purgatory) and get into heaven, THEY ARE WRONG!

I’m a former Catholic. Now, as a committed, born-again, evangelical, Protestant Christian, I look back at my Catholic upbringing and I feel deprived. I could have been learning the Truth about Jesus not just the “Bible stories” that the Catholic church felt were important. They picked out the stories that suited their purpose and ignored the rest. I think this is a big reason why our world is so messed up.

Read the Bible. Read the Truth. Find a bible-based church that teaches from the bible.

So what sounds better, believing in Jesus Christ and assuring yourself a room in His Father’s House or going to hell? And He’s waiting for YOU there preparing a place for YOU. (John 14:2)

What’s Heaven Like?

This entry is part 19 of 23 in the series Christianity

“On Earth as it is in Heaven…”

The line in the Lord’s Prayer refers to God’s Will. (Matthew 6:9-13)

“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” God rules heaven and He also is in control of everything on earth.

But what’s heaven like? Does it look like our sky – pretty blue with white puffy clouds and angels strumming harps?

Heaven is peaceful

“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” (Luke 19:38).

Heaven is indeed a kingdom of peace. And when Jesus taught His disciples how to live in a world characterized by a lack of peace, He taught them to pray that God’s will would be done “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

There is peace in heaven, and Jesus wants His disciples to have peace on earth until eternal peace is realized in the New Jerusalem. But how? Through prayer. The apostle Paul wrote that when we commit every care and concern to God through prayer, the heavenly peace of God will guard our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6-7).”  (Turning Point David Jeremiah www.turningpointonline.org)

God’s Throne

The Holy Trinity – Jesus, the Son, God, the Father &
The Holy Spirit

The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them. ~ Psalm 11:4

Jesus is in heaven

When he [Jesus] had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. ~Luke 24:50-51

Believers will have glorious bodies like Jesus’

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. ~ Philippians 3:20-21

There will be no pain or sorrow in heaven

“…He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” ~ Revelation 21:4

God gave the Apostle John a glimpse of heaven

(Revelation 21)
(Revelation 22)

Heaven is an exclusive club open to anyone who wants to come in

And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ~ Matthew 18:3

“Like little children” means that we need to be pure, sin-free, reborn and the only way to do that is through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal savior.

It’s not enough just to be good

This entry is part 14 of 23 in the series Christianity

When you die, are you going to heaven?

If you haven’t accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, the answer to that is NO.

“But, I’m a good person,” you say.
http://www.areyouagoodperson.org/

Sure, you’ve never killed anyone. You try to treat people fairly.

You’ve never committed adultery – or have you?

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart…” ~Matthew 5:27-28

Have you ever looked at someone of the opposite sex, lustfully?

If you’ve taken any employment assessments lately, you may have come across this question: “Have you ever lied?”

They also ask, “Have you ever stolen anything?”

Yes you have. A white lie is still a lie. Sharing software is stealing as is leaving work 15 minutes early without telling anyone – you’re stealing time from your employer who’s paying you for a full-day’s work.

So what does that make you – an adulterer, a liar and a thief, right?

That also makes you a sinner.

Check out – The Way of the Master

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~Romans 5:8
