In His Steps – the book that started it all

Published originally as a magazine series in 1896, then as a book in 1898, In His Steps by Charles M. Sheldon is the novel from where the WWJD movement began. Even though it took 100 years for it to start spreading, the message is as important today as it was back then. What would Jesus do?

Sheldon’s book is the story of a minister, Rev. Maxwell and how he influenced first a small number of volunteers and slowly, the whole town. He challenged his parishioners to “pledge themselves, earnestly and honestly, for an entire year; not to do anything without first asking the question, ‘What would Jesus do?'”

I urge Christians to read this book and see what needs to be done. You can purchase a modern copy from Amazon or download the original for free from Google Books.

Get your church to adopt the movement. Let’s revive it. WWJD? Together, if we live daily thinking “What would Jesus do?” before we react, we can change the world.

Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. ~ 1 John 2:6
