God Chose our Leaders

Romans 13:1 reads:

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. (NIV)

“The authorities that exist have been established by God.” What?

Our first thought may be — whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican — “God, what were you thinking!?” That may be one of the first questions I’ll ask Him when I get to heaven. God has a purpose. It is not for us to know or even try to figure it out. All we can do is pray and keep praying and trust that God knows what He’s doing.

Like it our not, as Christians, we are prompted to pray for our leaders.

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

2 Timothy: 1-3

“Peaceful and quite lives marked by godliness and dignity.”

Wow! Do you think there’s dignity in insulting someone just because you don’t like what he or she said? We should really think before we tweet! I don’t know how many times I started to reply and stopped myself thinking, “What would Jesus do?” or “What would Jesus say?”

Tweet others the way you want to be tweeted.

I’d rather respond with a Bible verse.
