Metamorphosis — a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means. Transformation — only Jesus and the Holy Spirit can change or reconstruct a life. We are told…
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.Romans 12:2 NLT
Let the Holy Spirit Renew Your Mind
But, oh, this world is so tempting! However, with the Holy Spirit inside of you, you not only receive a new life, but you are bound together with other believers in fellowship — a partnership. Pray and sing praises to God and you’ll feel the Holy Spirit move in your life! Here’s one of my past podcasts — part of the series on the Benefits of Salvation…
The Spirit of Truth
And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.Ephesians 1:13-14
I discovered this video series in the Bible App as I did a study on the Gospel of John. Here’s the scene where Jesus, After the Resurrection, visits the disciples in the upper room and breathes the Holy Spirit on them. (It’s at the beginning of the video — but watch the whole thing.)
That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”John 20:19-23 NLT
Jesus breathed on them…
So, it seems like the disciples got the Holy Spirit twice? Yes. The first time, the Holy Spirit was with them. Later, in Acts 2, after Jesus ascended into Heaven, they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.Acts 2: 1-4
He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.John 14:17
He was talking about Himself. He was living with them but later, after the resurrection, they received the Holy Spirit and were instantly transformed.
“The world cannot receive Him”. You can’t live in both the world and with the Holy Spirit. I know, I tried it and it didn’t work. Check out my testimony below.
I said yesterday that when you believe and accept Jesus’ salvation, it is the Holy Spirit who opens your heart and bestows or gives you divine life. That divine life is what changes you. You can’t help but change. I did. It was amazing! TV shows and music that I used to enjoy, all of a sudden I found offensive. I wanted to spend less time watching TV and more time reading and studying the Bible and getting to know Jesus better. At the same time, I was getting closer to God.

If you want a new life with Jesus Christ and to get closer to God, this is what you have to do…
Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.
- Believe — have Faith — that Jesus is the Christ and He died taking your sins away forever.
- Repent of your sins — stop sinning! Do a complete 180 in your life and surrender your life to Him.
- Be Baptized — show the world and yourself that you have died to your old life and are born again in Christ.
- Receive the Holy Spirit in your heart.
Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly…
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Next Steps in Your New Walk with Jesus…
- Start reading the Bible daily. If you don’t have one, I recommend the YouVersion, Bible.app and Through the Word app — both are free and have a lot of great daily devotionals and Bible studies.
- Pray every day. Talk to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you daily.
- Find and join a Bible-believing church — preferably a non-denominational one and be baptized!
Soli Deo Gloria — to God Alone be the Glory!
